Broward County Juvenile Detention Center serves the entire county of Broward in Florida. There are 95 beds in the facility, and it houses both male and female young offenders both before their first court d\ate and also during their sentence if they are assigned to detention. School is provided each weekday and each student is expected to attend, either for GED or high school credits or to work on college level courses. In addition to school classes there are programs and sessions for anger management, life skills, substance abuse treatments, counseling, and other programs to prepare each student for their reintegration into the community. Mail: Residents are permitted and encouraged to send and receive mail frequently to maintain connections with friends and family outside of the facility. Each letter is checked for contraband before it is given to the student. Incoming calls may be accepted during set hours only. Visiting: Visiting hours are provided on Wednesdays from 7pm until 8pm, Saturdays 3:30pm-4:30pm, and Sundays 3:30pm-4:30pm.
