The Florida Constitution entitles most defendants in Broward County to reasonable pretrial release. Release can be denied for capital or life felonies when the proof is evident, or when no conditions would protect the community. Many misdemeanor and traffic arrests end with a notice to appear. For other offenses, bond starts at the amount on the Florida Supreme Court’s uniform statewide bond schedule.

Call the Broward Juvenile Detention Center at 954-467-4563 to find out an inmate’s bail. If you know what the inmate was arrested for, the Florida uniform statewide bond schedule for 2026 will show the minimum bond, although local judicial circuits can set higher amounts and a judge can change the bond at first appearance. Cash, surety bonds, and property bonds are accepted, as is release on personal recognizance.

The Broward Juvenile Detention Center is licensed for 95 inmates, though it is often forced to accept many more, especially on weekends. Most city and county jails in Florida turn over at least 35-40% of inmates monthly, 25-30% more every 90 days, and 15-20% more every six months, with roughly 8-9% remaining six to twelve months. Stays of more than a year are usually tied to serious charges like rape or murder. Those cases take longer to prepare for trial, so offenders arrested in this county remain at one of the Broward County facilities much longer.

Every year, law enforcement agencies in Broward County arrest and detain approximately 153,620 offenders.
