The sheriff's jail page puts bond hearings in Courtroom #2 on the third floor of the Douglas County Courthouse, 8700 Hospital Drive, Douglasville. The Magistrate Court's page says the judge decides whether to grant bond, how much, and what conditions apply. The two pages give slightly different start times, from 8:30 to 9:00 in the morning, so call the clerk at 770-920-7540 for the day's time.

Most arrested people appear at one of these hearings unless they already left on a pre-set bond.

The Magistrate Court calls it a bond decided in advance for a few misdemeanor offenses. A person who has already been released on one does not need a bond hearing. The court's page does not list which offenses count, so ask the clerk at 770-920-7540 before you assume yours is on the list.

The sheriff's page says probation violations have no bond. The probation officer meets with the person, and if they cannot reach an agreement a judge decides. Murder, rape, armed robbery, and some other charges can be bailed only by a superior court judge (O.C.G.A. 17-6-1(a)).
