Visiting hours are 1 to 3 p.m. every day, plus 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Call the jail 24 hours ahead to schedule. Each inmate may have three 20-minute visits a week, and no more than one a day.
↑ Back to the question listAre video visits available?
Yes. Video visits go through the jail's phone and video provider, cost 20 cents a minute and follow the same rules as in-person visits, including advance approval. Set them up on that provider's website.
↑ Back to the question listWhat do phone calls cost?
Inmate calls are 20 cents a minute plus taxes for local, in-state and out-of-state numbers; international calls need a calling card and start at $1 a minute. Talk time can be bought from the phone provider; for refunds or help call 877-998-5678. The jail also sells $10 prepaid phone cards.
↑ Back to the question listCan inmates send texts?
Yes, through the same provider. An inmate rents a texting device for $5 a month, and each message sent or received costs 10 cents. Family can add funds to a specific device on the provider's website; for other contact options see our messaging guide.
↑ Back to the question listCan I add funds for an inmate?
Deposit at the payment link on the county's jail page, or use the deposit kiosk in the front lobby. Money on the account pays for commissary and phone cards. Our money guide has general tips.
↑ Back to the question listHow do I send mail?
Before you write, call 641-484-3760 to check where letters should go, and put a full return address on each one. The handbook says mail is not delivered on weekends or holidays. Greeting cards larger than 6 by 9 inches go back to the sender, as does anything with perfume, stickers or glitter. Packages need prior approval from jail administration. Attorney and court mail is opened only with the inmate present.
