Tishomingo County Jail Inmate Search
Tishomingo County Inmate Search: Check Who Is Locked Up in Iuka
Arrests in Tishomingo County are booked into the Tishomingo County Jail, 1208 Bettydale Drive, Iuka, MS 38852. Read on to track down the person, then learn about bond, legal help, visiting, letters, deposits, personal items and hearings.
Families are pointed by the Sheriff's Office to the official jail search, where a typed name shows whether someone is held. Mugshots may be there, or may not. Fresh bookings can take hours to appear.
Your quickest move is dialing the jail desk at 662-423-7000. Tell the booking desk who you mean. Ask what the person faces and what bond is set. The bail page shows how release works, and the court page follows a case through hearings.
1. Using the name search on the jail lookup
The Sheriff's website steers families toward a free statewide search and alert tool. Try it this way:
- Pull up the county jail search on whatever screen you have.
- Start with the last name, add the first name, and match the ID card's spelling.
- Match the result by birth date or age so two people with one name are not confused.
- Take a screenshot or copy what the screen says.
- Ring 662-423-7000 and ask for the charge, how much bond was set, if any, plus when the first hearing is.
The Sheriff also mentions a free phone app named Mobile Patrol. It carries warrant and detention news from the office. The jail desk can tell you how much it covers.
↑ Back to the question list2. The search shows no match. Is the person out?
Silence on the screen does not prove freedom. Weigh these possibilities:
- Booking in progress. Fingerprints and paperwork take a while. Look again later today.
- Town police custody. Sometimes a town officer holds a person first and sends them to the county afterward.
- Bond posted. A bail agent or the court may have sent them home already.
- Another facility. A nearby county's cells or a regional jail may hold them.
- Name trouble. Test other spellings, such as a nickname or a middle name, or a former surname.
Phone the jail at 662-423-7000. Someone answers day and night. Explain that you think a person was just booked.
↑ Back to the question list3. Where in or near Tishomingo County might a detainee be sitting?
Arrests in the county lead to one building, the Tishomingo County Jail, 1208 Bettydale Drive, Iuka, MS 38852, 662-423-7000. The Sheriff's Office runs it, and the same desk handles dispatch. We found no annex, work center, work release site or city lockup for adults. People get moved, so call to confirm where yours sleeps.
A few Tishomingo-area detainees could be moved to a regional site or a nearby county's jail. Ask the jail desk before you drive anywhere.
A federal or state hold may place someone elsewhere. See the federal and prison answers below.
↑ Back to the question list4. Mugshots: will a photo appear in the search?
It might or might not. Open a name and look. We cannot promise a photo, because the Sheriff's own site gives us no list to check.
Police incident reports are open to anyone under the state's open records law, Miss. Code § 25-61-12. A report names whoever was arrested and charged, and copies may carry a fee. No Mississippi statute we located requires handing over the photo itself.
To request a photo, reach out to the arresting agency. For deputies, ring the Sheriff's Office at 662-423-7000. For a town arrest, ring that town's police.
- ICE photos: file a records request at the ICE Freedom of Information page.
- Federal photos: not given out, though the U.S. Marshals Service may share one when it is looking for a runaway suspect.
5. Can a text or phone call tell me when they leave or move?
Yes. Mississippi runs a free notice program called SAVIN, its version of VINE, through the Department of Corrections. Alerts cover transfers, releases, escapes and returns to custody. They cover county and state offenders, but no list of the jails that sign up is given, so test it.
- Register on VINELink.
- Or phone 888-967-7284, open 24 hours in English and Spanish.
- If a transfer to state prison happens, the same registration stays active.
The Sheriff's site cautions families not to lean on alerts alone. For anything urgent, also ring the jail at 662-423-7000.
↑ Back to the question list6. Tishomingo County bond: who sets it and how can we pay?
A judge decides on release at the first hearing, which cannot be later than 48 hours following the arrest. A deputy's arrest normally lands in Justice Court, Room 212 at 1008 Battleground Drive, Iuka, MS 38852, 662-423-7033. A town arrest may land in that town's court. Jailers never pick the amount.
- Some people leave on a written promise to return.
- Others put money with the court clerk, at least $250 or ten percent of the bond, whichever totals more. Not everyone qualifies.
- A family can pledge Mississippi land by sworn affidavit.
- A licensed bail agent charges 10 percent or $100, whichever is greater, plus $50. That fee stays with the agent.
Inside the jail's intake area, the Sheriff's Office keeps a roster of approved bond agents. A qualifying detainee may pick any name on it. The office does not endorse an agent or control prices. Our Tishomingo bail page lays out the steps. For state rules, see the Mississippi bail laws page.
↑ Back to the question list7. Where do I find out the exact accusation?
Begin with the jail. Phone 662-423-7000, supply the full name plus birth date, and request the charge and bond on file.
After a first hearing, a court file exists. Ask the Justice Court clerk, 662-423-7033, about a misdemeanor. Ask the Circuit Clerk, Room 204 of the courthouse at 1008 Battleground Drive, Iuka, MS 38852, 662-423-7026, about a felony, which goes to a grand jury first.
A few courts put dockets on Mississippi Electronic Courts, but many do not, so a quick call is the safe route.
The District Attorney's office for this region is at P.O. Box 7237, Tupelo, MS 38802, 662-432-2800.
↑ Back to the question list8. Tishomingo County: what if a lawyer costs too much?
Anyone held has a right to counsel. By the first hearing, the judge decides whether to name a free one. Tell the judge you cannot afford to pay.
To learn who was picked, call the Justice Court clerk at 662-423-7033 for a misdemeanor, or the Circuit Clerk at 662-423-7026 for a felony. Both work in the courthouse at 1008 Battleground Drive, Iuka, MS 38852.
A private lawyer is another path. Ask yours about arranging a closed-door meeting at the jail.
↑ Back to the question list9. Tishomingo County jail visiting: what are the rules?
In-person visits were suspended in March 2020 "until further notice," and that notice may still stand. Call 662-423-7000 before making plans.
When walk-in visits are running, expect this:
- You schedule by phone on Fridays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Saturday visiting runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Each visit has a strict time limit, so arrive early to sign in.
The jail also offers video visits from home through City Tele Coin, with apps for iPhone and Android. A weak signal is not the jail's fault. Our visiting guide adds tips.
↑ Back to the question list10. How to deposit money for someone in the jail
An account is spent on commissary orders. Tiger Commissary handles both ways in:
- In person. The lobby has a kiosk that takes cash, debit cards and credit cards.
- Online. Go to the Tiger Commissary site and pick the Tishomingo page.
The vendor sets fees. The kiosk takes $2.50 on a cash deposit, and an online deposit adds a 10 percent charge. Card fees at the kiosk change, so read the screen before paying.
Bring the person's full name. Questions go to 662-423-7000. More is on the money page and the commissary page. Never send bills or coins through the mail.
↑ Back to the question list11. Inmate calls, video and phone hours
Each person gets a free call at booking. After that, they use day-room phones, and calls can only be collect. The phones go quiet from 10:30 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
City Tele Coin also supplies phone service and runs the jail's video visits. Ring 662-423-7000 to learn how to open an account and what a call costs. Assume a call may be recorded.
Case details are for the lawyer only. For more, try our phone guide and our email and texting guide for jails.
↑ Back to the question list12. Writing to someone inside: what does the jail accept?
Put the person's name on the envelope, then Tishomingo County Jail, 1208 Bettydale Drive, Iuka, MS 38852. Add your own full name and return address, or the jail will refuse it.
- Letters, cards and pictures are fine unless obscene.
- Staff open every piece and look for contraband.
- Lawyer and court mail is opened with the person watching.
- Packages of any kind are banned.
- Stamps and envelopes sent in are discarded. The person buys them at the commissary.
- There is no limit on letters going out.
The jail's page asks only for the name. Ask at 662-423-7000 if a booking number helps. Our mail guide has more.
↑ Back to the question list13. Picking up what was taken at booking
The jail holds the belongings collected at booking. Call 662-423-7000 to learn where they are kept, who may collect them and which photo ID to carry. Find out whether the person needs to sign a release.
The administrative office at 1208 Bettydale Drive, Iuka, MS 38852, is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
↑ Back to the question list14. A sick or injured inmate: whom do I call?
Phone the jail right away at 662-423-7000. Tell the desk the name, the condition, and every medicine with its dose. Give the doctor's name if you know it.
Ask the desk how this person can request medical care. If danger is immediate, call 911. If you worry the person might harm themselves, say that on the call.
↑ Back to the question list15. Tishomingo County warrants: how do I check for one?
The Sheriff's Office serves warrants here. Call 662-423-7000, or visit the Sheriff's warrants page and its list of wanted people. The state keeps a Mississippi Most Wanted page as well. To check court files, call the Justice Court clerk, Room 212, 1008 Battleground Drive, Iuka, MS 38852, 662-423-7033, or the Circuit Clerk, Room 204 in that building, 662-423-7026. Want to resolve one? A lawyer can advise you before you go. Then learn from the issuing court how surrender works. Waiting will not erase it, so move soon.
↑ Back to the question list16. Hearing dates: which office knows?
The judge's own court controls the calendar, so ask the office tied to the case. The first two offices sit in the courthouse at 1008 Battleground Drive, Iuka, MS 38852.
- Justice Court, Room 212: 662-423-7033. Misdemeanors and early felony hearings.
- Circuit Clerk, Room 204: 662-423-7026. Felonies after a grand jury indicts. This Circuit Court belongs to the First Circuit Court District.
- Municipal Court: call the town hall when a town police officer made the arrest.
Request the date, time and courtroom. Our Tishomingo court page shows how a case moves along.
↑ Back to the question list17. Federal charges and custody
A federal charge is filed in Aberdeen, in the Northern District of Mississippi. Look for the Thomas G. Abernethy Federal Building, 301 West Commerce Street, Aberdeen, MS 39730, 662-234-1971.
- A federal judge picks between jail and freedom at a detention hearing (18 U.S.C. 3142).
- The U.S. Marshals Service holds federal detainees. Its Aberdeen office shares that address, 662-369-4892. Ask where the person is kept.
- Look in the BOP inmate locator once a federal term has been imposed.
18. An immigration detainer: what does it mean?
A detainer is ICE's Form I-247A, a request sent to the jail. Under 8 CFR 287.7(d), the jail may keep the person up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released.
- Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator and enter a full name with the home country. An A-number works too.
- Mississippi sits in the New Orleans ICE region. If the locator shows nothing, use the field office contact on that site.
- Reach an immigration lawyer quickly.
19. Finding a loved one at a Mississippi prison
After a judge orders prison time, deputies drive the person to a state reception site picked by the Department of Corrections. Reception can run 14 to 45 days. No visits happen then, and phone use is limited.
- Use the MDOC inmate search. Look only for state inmates there; people in county cells are kept off that list.
- Our Mississippi state prisons page explains visits and mail there.
- The state parole board, a separate body, rules on parole.
20. A minor in custody: who handles it?
For most children below 18, the case belongs in Youth Court. Generally a child stays out of adult jail. Holding a child past a day takes a judge's order. The detention hearing follows inside 48 hours.
Adult court may take the case if a 13-year-old or older faces an accusation that carries life, or one with a deadly weapon.
Call the Circuit Clerk at 662-423-7026, 1008 Battleground Drive, Iuka, MS 38852, and ask where the child is staying and what day the hearing is set. Placement for a committed youth can be the Oakley Youth Development Center, 2375 Oakley Road, Raymond, MS 39154.
