The Summit View Youth Center is a maximum security facility for juveniles who have been determined to require detention. It provides 48 beds and accepts male juveniles who are in high school and aged 14 to 19. It is located near the naval base and has been open since 2016. The Division of Child and Family Services is the operating body, and they work closely with the Clark County School District to ensure that licensed teachers attend the site to hold school classes Monday to Friday year round. Along with the mandated core classes, they offer option classes, remedial classes, special education programs, vocational programs to assist in employment outside of the facility, and even activities with other nearby schools and programs. The full staff provides a wide range of services and care for the needs of each of the residents throughout their stay, including nurses on staff, a psychologist, physicians, psychiatrist, and a dentist who are either onsite all the time or who are contracted to attend regularly. Programs include drug and alcohol abuse counseling, recovery programs, counseling, sex offender treatment, treatment planning, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
