Nevada Youth Training Center

The NYTC is found in Elko, Nevada, and it houses juveniles who are between 12 and 18 years old who have completed the reception and classification process and require detention. Reasons for detention may be that they are waiting for a court date to occur, they are not trusted to return for their court date and therefore will be detained until it occurs, or they were adjudicated and assigned to the facility for a set period of time. It has space for up to 160 juveniles but only funded and approved for 60, while it does not currently have that many in residence. Along with the housing units the campus has a full gym, a high school, full service kitchen that provides all meals, a football and soccer field, a baseball diamond, and a full workout room with gym equipment for cardio and weightlifting.
