About the Greer County Jail
The Greer County Sheriff is located in Mangum, Oklahoma and is responsible for the law enforcement in the city and the surrounding area. Included in this responsibility is enforcing all laws locally, serving warrants for arrest in the county, process serving of court papers and legal documents, collecting and depositing all of the fees that are paid to the office, and operating the county jail. The large brick building is situated on the corner and represents architecture from the past and easily fits into the landscape. With 43 beds, it has been fully operational since 1985 and sees fewer than 3,000 inmates booked each year. All local arrests are processed at this location and held until they have their initial hearing. Inmates are released when they make bail, are found not guilty or charges or dropped, and when they have completed their sentence as well as if they are transferred to an alternative facility with more in depth programming and space. Outgoing phone calls are allowed, including to lawyers or attorneys as well as to friends and family. Lawyers are allowed to visit inmates and to arrange their legal defense, while other visitors may not be able to schedule a visit before they are transferred to another local facility. Phone and video visits are booked through citytelecoin.com and are only on weekends. Visits can be scheduled for 15 minutes and all are non-contact and scheduled during day time hours only and will be after 2:30pm and before 7:30pm..
