Greer County Jail Inmate Search
Greer County Inmate Search: Who Is Held in Mangum Today
Every adult arrested in this county, by a deputy, a city officer or a trooper, is booked into the Greer County Jail, 105 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mangum, OK 73554. The Sheriff's Office runs the 43-bed jail for men and women. These answers walk you from finding a name to visits, mail, deposits, court dates and getting someone home.
Open the Sheriff's inmate search and enter a surname, or browse the list, where the latest bookings come first. Each entry gives the booking date and charges. The page says it refreshes every hour, so a person picked up minutes ago may not appear yet.
Can't find them, or need more? Phone the Sheriff's Office at 580-782-3065. Give a legal name plus birth date, then ask about charges and bond. Bond, holds and refunds have their own bail page, and each hearing gets a turn on the court page.
1. Searching the Greer County in-custody list, step by step
This list holds only people who are behind bars at the moment. Try these steps in order:
- Pull up the in-custody search on the Sheriff's website.
- Enter just the last name first. Skip middle names and initials.
- Still nothing? Scroll. Recent bookings are stacked at the top.
- Tap the entry for its booking date, charge list and extra notes.
- Jot down how the name is spelled and the booking date. Staff find people faster with both.
Someone who already went home drops off the list. To ask about a release or transfer, ring 580-782-3065 on a weekday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
↑ Back to the question list2. What if today's arrest isn't on the list?
Usually one of these explains it:
- Still in booking. Intake takes a while, and the roster catches up roughly hourly.
- Gone home. A bond could already be paid, or a judge may have signed a release.
- Taken elsewhere. A different county could have claimed the person on its own warrant. A state or federal agency might also have stepped in.
- Spelled another way. Try a nickname, each part of a two-part surname or a past married name.
- Younger than 18. Minors are sent to juvenile detention instead.
Mangum city arrests come to this same county jail. Jail staff at 580-782-3065 can run the name for you.
↑ Back to the question list3. Could a jail outside Greer County have them?
Adults from this county are held in Mangum. A border-area arrest, or a warrant from next door, can land someone in a neighboring jail instead:
- Jackson County Jail, Sheriff's Office, 600 S Main St., Altus, OK 73521, 580-482-0408
- Kiowa County Jail, Sheriff's Office, 301 S. Jefferson, Hobart, OK 73651, 580-726-3265
- Beckham County Jail, Sheriff's Office, 108 S. 3rd St., Sayre, OK 73662, 580-928-2121
- Washita County Jail, Sheriff's Office, 400 N McClary St, Cordell, OK 73632, 580-832-2370
- Harmon County Jail, 105 West Jones Street, Hollis, OK 73550, 580-688-3306
Granite has the Oklahoma State Reformatory, 1700 East First Street, Granite, OK 73547, 405-698-5263. That is a Department of Corrections prison for people already sentenced, and new arrests never go there. Our Oklahoma prisons page lists it.
↑ Back to the question list4. Will a booking photo come up with the name?
It depends on the entry. Where a picture would sit, the search can show "no image currently available." So a photo may or may not appear for your person.
- Oklahoma's Open Records Act lets the public see jail registers and an arrested person's description, if the agency has them on file (51 O.S. § 24A.8). Photos aren't named in that law.
- Reporters, or anyone wanting a booking record, can ask the Sheriff's Office at 580-782-3065 how its records requests work.
- Immigration booking photos can be sought through ICE's FOIA records page.
- As a rule, federal agencies keep booking pictures to themselves. Now and then the U.S. Marshals release one, for instance while chasing a fugitive.
5. Is there a text or email alert for release?
Yes. A link on the Sheriff's search page leads to Oklahoma's VINE system. Beyond alerts for victims, VINE shows custody status: held or not, where, and any move or release.
- Visit VINELink for Oklahoma.
- Look up the name, then choose the matching record.
- Register a phone number or email for notices.
VINE also takes calls at 877-654-8463. Moving to a state prison changes the ID number, and signing up again keeps the alerts coming. The Sheriff's app carries an inmate information section as well.
↑ Back to the question list6. What does release on bond take in Greer County?
Oklahoma's constitution sets bail as the normal path for most defendants (Okla. Const. art. II § 8). Denial is limited to a short list of grave charges. Even then the judge must find strong proof and no workable release terms.
- Choices include full cash, a surety bond from a licensed bondsman, a property bond or release on a signed promise.
- For a repeat DUI, nothing can be posted until a judge has set bail.
- Bond papers are filed with the Court Clerk, 106 E. Jefferson, Mangum, OK 73554, 580-782-3665. Per the Sheriff, a bond lacking a notary stamp, or filled out wrong, gets rejected.
Ask the jail at 580-782-3065 to list every hold before you pay. Our bail page spells out costs, steps and refunds.
↑ Back to the question list7. Where are the exact charges written down?
The jail entry shows booking charges, which are what police arrested the person for. Prosecutors may file different charges later.
- The Court Clerk sends record searchers to Oklahoma District Court Records, where filed cases appear.
- The Court Clerk, 580-782-3665, can read you the case number and filed counts.
- Questions about whether charges will be filed go to the District Attorney's office, Room 6 of the courthouse, 106 E. Jefferson, Mangum, OK 73554, 580-782-3653.
For a felony committed in 2026 or after, the judgment spells out its letter class. State Question 780 keeps simple drug possession and thefts under $1,000 in the misdemeanor group.
↑ Back to the question list8. Getting a court-appointed lawyer from a jail cell
Someone locked up should request the lawyer application from jail staff. On it go income, debts and assets, which a judge then weighs.
- Completed forms go to the Court Clerk, 106 E. Jefferson, Mangum, OK 73554, 580-782-3665.
- The $40 application fee lands in the Court Fund. Payment may be deferred, so it waits for the final ruling.
- Once approved, the case goes to the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System's Altus office, 123 W Commerce St, Suite 100, Altus, OK 73521, 580-782-2429.
In 2025, Oklahoma's Court of Criminal Appeals extended the right to counsel to felonies and to misdemeanors that carry possible jail. Hiring a private attorney remains an option all along.
↑ Back to the question list9. Are Greer County jail visits only by video?
Yes. In-person visiting is off the table, the Sheriff says. Every visit happens on video.
- Install the video visit company's app, which the Sheriff's visitation page names.
- Choose the Greer jail as the facility, then build a remote account for the person you want to see.
- Anyone younger than 18 visits only alongside a parent or legal guardian.
Staff monitor and record each session. Nudity or illegal activity cuts a visit short, and visiting rights can be revoked. Hours and fees come from the jail at 580-782-3065. Our video visitation page describes how these systems usually work.
↑ Back to the question list10. Sending deposits for commissary and fees
Family members can add funds online through the "Send a Web Deposit" link on the Sheriff's commissary page. Each person held has a commissary account through the jail's store vendor.
- That balance pays for items ordered from the jail store.
- Weekly store orders close at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.
- Match the name exactly to the in-custody listing.
For other deposit methods, phone 580-782-3065. Our inmate money page explains common fees, and the commissary page covers store limits.
↑ Back to the question list11. Phone calls, texts and messages from the Mangum jail
According to the Sheriff, the jail gives people phone calls and mail. State jail standards guarantee at least two local or collect calls to each new arrival (OAC 310:670-5-1). Expect a first call within hours of booking, maybe collect.
- Ask the jail at 580-782-3065 which phone provider it uses.
- Find out how to open a prepaid account so the person can call you.
Our inmate calling page covers prepaid phone accounts, and our jail messaging page covers electronic notes.
↑ Back to the question list12. What can go in a letter to Greer County inmates?
Use this exact address:
c/o Greer County Sheriff's Office
Inmate Name
105 S. Pennsylvania Ave.
Mangum, OK 73554
- Print the sender's first and last name plus a return address.
- Staff open and inspect all mail, and only scannable items get processed.
- Banned items: newspapers, magazines, Polaroids, more than three to five photos per letter, stamps, envelopes, pens, pencils, blank paper and cards that play music.
- People held in jail may not swap letters with one another.
State standards set no cap on mail volume. Legal mail from a court or attorney is opened only in the presence of the person it is addressed to (OAC 310:670-5-9). For further tips, read our jail mail page.
↑ Back to the question list13. Picking up personal property when someone gets out
Anything the person carried at booking is inventoried and stored. On release day, state jail rules call for a positive ID check, a return of items matched to the inventory, and a signature.
- Ask ahead about any cash or account balance owed back.
- Carry a photo ID when collecting on someone's behalf.
- Some jails want written permission from the owner first, so ask.
Pickup times come from the Sheriff's Office, 105 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mangum, OK 73554, 580-782-3065.
↑ Back to the question list14. Who handles illness or injury behind bars?
The state's jail standards give each person these protections:
- A health screening right at intake.
- An explanation of how to request care.
- A proper written sick call gets a visit with licensed medical staff in two days or less. Urgent needs go faster (OAC 310:670-5-8).
- State statute also orders adequate treatment for sickness or wounds that began after the arrest.
Tell the jail about medicines or health conditions right away at 580-782-3065. Unresolved worries about care can be raised with OSDH, which inspects every county jail, at its Detention Program, 123 Robert S. Kerr Ave., Suite 1702, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, 405-426-8170.
↑ Back to the question list15. Checking for open warrants and wanted notices
Deputies serve county warrants. Call the Sheriff's Office at 580-782-3065 to ask about one. Its Most Wanted list and the Wanted Persons section in the Sheriff's app name people being sought. Oklahoma's Attorney General posts a 10 Most Wanted list, and corrections issues Orange Alerts for escapes. Federal fugitives appear on the Marshals 15 Most Wanted. Filed cases are on ODCR. To settle a warrant, hire a lawyer and plan a turn-in at the issuing court, or call the clerk there about bond and rescheduling. Court Clerk: 106 E. Jefferson, Mangum, OK 73554, 580-782-3665.
↑ Back to the question list16. Finding the next hearing on the court calendar
The quickest route is the Court Clerk, 580-782-3665, open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Have a case number ready, or give the legal name with a birth date.
- State cases are heard at the courthouse, 106 E. Jefferson, Mangum, OK 73554.
- City citations are heard in Mangum's own court, City Hall, 130 N. Oklahoma Ave., Mangum, OK 73554, 580-782-2250.
- Dockets can be searched on ODCR.
Each hearing, from arraignment to sentencing, is explained on our criminal court page.
↑ Back to the question list17. Tracking a person charged with a federal crime
The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma hears federal cases from here. Its main clerk is at 200 NW 4th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, 405-609-5000. A smaller Lawton office sits at 410 SW 5th Street, Lawton, OK 73501, 580-355-6340.
- Under 18 U.S.C. 3142, lawyers for both sides argue release before trial, and the federal judge chooses.

- Some people pass through the Federal Transfer Center, 7410 S. MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73169, 405-682-4075.
- After sentencing, check the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator.
18. Locating someone ICE has taken into custody
An immigration hold usually unfolds in this order:
- ICE lodges Form I-247A, its detainer, at the Mangum lockup.
- Jailers may hold the person up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released (8 CFR 287.7(d)).
- ICE officers pick the person up. Their regional base is the Dallas Field Office, 8101 N. Stemmons Frwy, Dallas, TX 75247, 972-367-2200.
- One detention site is the Cimarron Correctional Facility, 3200 S. Kings Hwy., Cushing, OK 74023. Its detainee information line, 918-225-3336, runs 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Callers should know the A-number, country of birth, birth date and full name.
- Search the ICE Online Detainee Locator using an A-number, or a name paired with birth country.
Statewide, ICE keeps an office at 1220 Sovereign Row, Oklahoma City, OK 73108, 405-219-3199. Oklahoma's own immigration crime, HB 4156, sits idle. A federal judge stopped enforcement, and higher judges still weigh the state's appeal.
↑ Back to the question list19. Following a person into the state prison system
A prison sentence usually means more weeks in Mangum first. The Department of Corrections calls six to nine months normal before pickup. A reception center sets their custody level, and then they move to a matching prison.
- Check the state's DOC Offender Lookup by name.
- Read prison-by-prison details through our Oklahoma state prisons list.
- DOC's main line is 405-425-2500. After arrival, the case manager fields family questions.
Any letter into a state prison should show the ODOC number next to the name.
↑ Back to the question list20. A teenager was arrested. Where are they now?
Probably at a juvenile detention center. Oklahoma's jail rules cap a youth's stay in a grown-up lockup at six hours, for processing only, and they stay walled off from grown inmates under jail rule OAC 310:670-5-5.
- The Office of Juvenile Affairs oversees youth cases from this county, 2501 N. Lincoln Blvd, Suite 500, Oklahoma City, OK 73105, 405-530-2800.
