Providing a safe and secure environment for juveniles who are waiting for their court date, waiting for adjudication, or are under treatment, the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center has a positive environment and well trained staff. The values that are displayed in the center and make the basis of all programs include diversity and teamwork, integrity, commitment, safety, respect, and compassion. Thes encourage the juveniles to be respectful and kind to others, encourage growth in social skills and life skills, and promote a healthy and positive environment for staff and students. Structure is enforced throughout each day to encourage discipline and to maintain the safety of all present, staff are also working towards being role models for positive interactions and attitude, positive behaviors, and dignity and respect for others. The weekend program allows for some youth to attend during weekends only and remain in their home with their family, regular schooling, and other activities. Students in the location are between 10 and 18 years of age, both male and female, and this applies to both the detention and the shelter care programs. Phones: Approved contacts include parents and guardians, as well as lawyers and care providers. Phones may be accessed during their approved phone times or recreational time. Visitation: Only parents, guardians, and other approved visitors are permitted, and they will be provided with the days and times of their visits after the intake process is complete.
