⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessINTERESTING FACTS about the Madison County Jail: The most recent constuction of the jail facilities, along with the closure of the Annex in October of 2022, gives a total rated capacity of 384 inmates.
The breakdown is as follows: 304 beds in the county jail, and 80 inmates in the Penal Farm.
The new and improved facilities allow medical staff to safely enter cells to directly treat inmates. The higher the classification of the inmate, the fewer people they are putting in a cell, with only the lowest classification inmates being put in the dorm area with multiple incarcerated individuals. There are new classrooms available for educational and vocational programs, and a laundry area is now available to the inmates as well.
VISIT YOUR LOVED ONE
Having an outlet to contact loved ones outside the Madison County Jail may be critical to the well-being of someone serving time behind bars.
Remote Visitation, in the comfort of your own home is available for most facilities. Visitation hours may be dependent upon the sex of the person and, also dependent upon the section of the facility in which they are housed.
You must submit a picture and government photo ID for facility approval prior to visiting someone in our facility and there is a strict protocol that must be followed or privileges can be revoked.
If you are doing in person visitation, visitors are subject to search. Dress appropriately. If too much skin is showing, you may be refused visitation rights.

Mail can be received every day and is processed and passed to the inmates quickly, however as mentioned above the jail uses a digital service to avoid contraband entering the facility. Local or national newspapers may also be mailed to the inmate as long as they are mailed directly from the newspaper publisher.
Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
