Guadalupe County Juvenile Detention Center

Remaining open for admissions around the clock, this pre-adjudication juvenile detention center accepts both male and female juveniles and houses them in separate housing units. A full time staff is present to maintain the safety of the students, the staff, and the community, including an administrator, four managers, 6 team leaders and a team of supervision officers. Most of the youth who are in the facility are there as they await a detention hearing, if they are determined to be a danger to themselves or others, or they are assigned to the unit after their adjudication. While they are within the facility, they will receive all necessary including healthy meals, medical care, mental health care, and education through the local school board. Physical education and recreational activities are provided, and group activities will help to encourage teamwork and positive social interactions. A strict schedule is adhered to each day of the week in order to maintain structure, safety, and responsibility with each of the residents. Mail: Any mail must be to the address provided by the facility after intake, and follow all provided guidelines as it will be checked for contraband upon arrival. Phones: All of the contacts who can receive calls must be listed in the Residents Call List or they will not be permitted to make the call. Residents may make phone calls on Tuesdays and Thursdays for 5 minutes each, and those who are A level will have 15 minute calls on Wednesday and Friday. Visitation: Only approved visitors on the Resident Contact List will be able to make visits and they must be approved by the probation officer. Visits for all residents are 30 minutes long and occur on Sundays between 2pm and 5pm, with those who reach A level having an additional visit of 30 minutes in person or Zoom visit.
