About the San Juan County Jail
With an average population of 90 inmates at any time, the San Juan County Jail is located within Monticello, UT. Due to a contract with the state it houses sex offenders for the state and offers treatment programs to rehabilitate them. While awaiting their bail payment or if they are unable to make bail, inmates will have access to make phone calls, send messages, watch TV, shower, have regular meals three times a day, and will be monitored by the staff. Access is provided to the educational center and the classes. Some inmates will crochet items that are donated to those in the community who need them as a way to give back to their community. As one of the supports for inmates they are able to write to friends and family and receive letters in the mail. In order to write to an inmate it must go through the US Postal Service and can be sent to the facility name including the inmates name and ID number at PO Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131. All mail is scanned by a third party and will be electronically delivered to the desired inmate, making it key to ensure the address is correct, and a full return address is necessary. Inmates can also be supported by their loved ones outside of the facility through funding of their commissary account allowing them to make purchases for necessary items, which can be done at the kiosk that is inside the jail lobby or jailatm.com. Visits are also encouraged, and prescription glasses or medications can be dropped off for the inmate at any visit or during regular business hours. To visit an inmate you must be on the approved visiting list, as there are regulations around who is permitted to visit and ID is necessary for this process to be completed. All visits are currently online via video chat, and can be scheduled and conducted at icsolutions.com. Once registered and approved, the program will provide all the times that the inmate is available for visitation, which will vary depending upon their housing, classes, educational opportunities and any other tasks they are doing while they are incarcerated.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the San Juan County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
San Juan County Jail uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the San Juan County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
