Maguire Correctional Facility uses Smart Communications for Remote Video Visitation between inmates and their loved ones.
How Video Visitation Works
SmartJailMail.com provides a two-way, real-time video visitation system which can be used to speak to your loved ones directly in their housing location within the jail.
At some locations you may also use a lobby kiosk at the facility to visit for free when scheduling a local / on-site visit.
Remote visits from home cost 50 cents per minute and are scheduled in 15 or 30 minute increments.
To schedule a video visit you must first open a Smart Communications account.
Remote Video Visits From Home
Once you are connected with an inmate you can use the visitation section of the website to schedule a visit.
Remote visits from home are billed on a credits-per-minute model and are scheduled in 15 or 30 minute blocks.
Local / On-Site Video Visits
Once you are connected with an inmate at a location where you have a visitation kiosk in the lobby, you may use the visitation section of the website to schedule a visit.
Local / on-site visits are provided free of charge.
This link explains everything you need to know about Smart Communications Video Visitation.
Maguire Correctional Facility Visitation Application Process
Maguire Correctional Facility may require visitors to fill out an application prior to your visiting an inmate.
Carefully fill out the application. Incomplete paperwork is cause for denial.
Honesty, especially regarding past criminal convictions, probation etc., is important. These things will most likely show up on the background check – which if lied about on the application, will cause visits to be denied.
Call 650-363-4000 to ask specific questions about the application.
Who Can Visit an Inmate in Maguire Correctional Facility
Anyone over the age of 18, who isn't on felony probation and can produce a valid government-issued photo ID can be approved to visit an inmate in this jail.
Visitation applicants in San Mateo County must sometimes submit to a background check. Those with warrants are denied visitation or if allowed to visit, will be arrested at the jail.
Maguire Correctional Facility limits visits to one adult each visit.
No children allowed.
It is likely that the Maguire Correctional Facility will deny visitation to anyone with a past felony conviction regardless of probation/parole status.
If you are a co-defendant with the inmate in a pending case, your visit will be denied.
If you and the inmate are under a court order to have no contact with each other, your visit will be denied.
The Maguire Correctional Facility reserves the right to deny any person the right to enter the jail it chooses and for any reason.
Maguire Correctional Facility Visitation Dress Code
The Maguire Correctional Facility staff reserves the right to turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for a visit.
The best way to be sure the visit takes place is to dress as if you are meeting someone's grandmother for the first time.
