Send an Inmate Mail in the Anderson County Jail

Sending Mail to the Anderson County Jail

Since September 25, 2024, personal letters for people held in Palestine don't go to the jail. They go to a mail-scanning center in Longview, which scans each page and sends the image to the kiosk in the person's cell through NCIC's messaging system. Address personal mail exactly like this:

Inmate's full name
SO#
Anderson County Jail
PO Box 591
Longview, TX 75606

Rules for the Longview box

  • Put the person's name and SO number (Sheriff's Office booking number) and your return address on the envelope.
  • Letters can be no larger than 8.5 by 11 inches and no more than 5 pages; longer letters are sent back unscanned.
  • Write on the front of each page only. Pages with writing on the back are returned.
  • One photo per mailing. A letter with two or more photos comes back with everything in it.
  • Once a letter is scanned and delivered, the original and everything in it, photos included, is destroyed rather than returned.
  • No books, magazines, newspapers, bulk mail, legal mail or medical mail at the Longview box.

What address do family letters use?

Personal letters: Inmate's full name, SO#, Anderson County Jail, PO Box 591, Longview, TX 75606. Everything legal, medical or printed: 1200 East Lacy Street, Palestine, TX 75801.

Will the person get my actual letter?

No. Only a scan of each page's front side reaches the cell kiosk. The paper, and any photo you enclosed, is destroyed after delivery.

Can I send photos?

One per envelope to the Longview box; a second print sends the whole envelope back. Or send it as a 35-cent picture through NCIC.

Why was my letter sent back?

Typical causes: too many pages, two-sided writing, extra photos, oversized paper, or a missing name, SO number or return address.

How do I send a book or magazine?

Ship it to the Palestine address rather than Longview, which refuses publications, and confirm approved sellers at 903-729-6068.

Where does mail for an attorney client go?

Attorney correspondence belongs at the Palestine address; Longview turns it away.
