About the Cherokee County Detention Center

Cherokee County Detention Center is a direct supervision correctional facility that serves communities within Cherokee County, Alabama.

The facility is equipped with 512 beds and holds both pre-sentence and post-sentence individuals.

Cherokee County Detention Center is managed and overseen by the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and strives to offer inmates a safe, secure, and humane environment. Inmates have access to visitation hours, inmate roster, and remote video visitation services.

The facility also works closely with God's Redeeming Grace Jail Ministry to provide spiritual guidance and support for inmates. The facility is a regional minimum security jail that houses both male and female adult inmates for the county, municipalities, state, and US Marshal Service. It has been operational since 1984 and boasts of about 2236 bookings yearly.

Currently, the facility is operating at 133 percent capacity and offers inmate bail bonds. The monthly average of total bookings in Cherokee County Detention Center is 360.
