⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessCompleted in 2010, the 156-bed Douglas County Jail provides detention services for all inmates of Douglas County during the full duration of their incarceration both while they wait for a trial and as they serve their sentence and prepare for reentry to the community.
The large brick building stands next to the town police department, creating a complex for law enforcement and providing safe and secure housing for all inmates while protecting the safety of the community.
Within the facility there are 156 beds with an operational approved capacity of 135 and it holds male inmates, female inmates, and juvenile inmates as the only jail in the area. If you have questions or concerns staff are available by phone at 320-762-2139 and an online lookup of adult inmates is maintained. Using direct supervision, there are officers within the housing units, and they interact with inmates each day, encouraging positive social interactions.
Contracts are in place to provide full medical and mental health care, along with meals and recreation, education, and exercise, are all provided throughout any length of incarceration for all inmates regardless of security needs.
The work release program allows inmates to remain employed and keep the job that they have prior to incarceration by going to work each day and returning to Douglas County Jail at the end of their shift.
The friends and family of inmates are able to support them both financially and through contact during incarceration through adding money to the commissary account to support their purchases for personal needs, by sending and receiving mail, accepting phone calls, and visiting.

Visits are both onsite and offsite, and each visitor must register. Onsite visits occur Tuesday 7pm-9pm, Thursday 1:30pm-4pm then 7pm-9:30pm, and Sunday 1:30pm-4pm. Offsite visits occur each day in three blocks 9am-10:30am, 1pm-4pm, and 7pm-10:30pm.
Following an arrest, individuals are processed at Douglas County Jail. The booking process confirms identity, charges, and whether the individual will be released, granted bail, or held until court.
