The Clark County Jail at a glance:
Because serious cases take longer to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in Clark County on those charges remain in custody at one of the Clark County facilities much longer.
Arkansas guarantees a right to bail before conviction for all charges except capital offenses when the proof is evident or the presumption is great. For everything else, judges in Clark County decide between release on recognizance, release with conditions, or a set bail amount.
Clark County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 900 offenders per year.
The modern brick building that houses the 45 bed Clark County Jail flows into a connection with the courthouse, and is directly across from Juvenile Probation and surrounded by other Clark County buildings and law enforcement. This location provides easy transportation to court dates and appointments, and the large building covers the entire block on one side, providing for all of the detention needs of the community.
The Clark County Jail sits inside the Clark County Sheriff’s Office at 406 South 5th Street in Arkadelphia. It houses men, up to about 50 at a time, most of them awaiting court, plus some serving county sentences or waiting to go to the Arkansas Division of Correction. Women arrested in the county are housed elsewhere, so call to ask where. The jail line, staffed 24 hours, is (870) 246-2222. Sheriff’s office business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
To confirm that someone is in custody, call the jail or search Arkansas’s VINE system, which tracks people held in county jails and can send you a free alert when their custody status changes. Court cases, charges and hearing dates for Clark County appear on Search ARCourts.
Clark County makes up the 9th Judicial Circuit East. After booking, a judge must see the person without unnecessary delay, generally within 48 hours (Arkansas Rule of Criminal Procedure 8.1). Arkansas law starts from release: the state constitution makes everyone bailable before conviction except for capital offenses when the proof is evident or the presumption great, and Rules 9.1 and 9.2 steer judges toward release on recognizance or conditions, with money bail only if nothing else will reasonably get the person back to court. When a bondsman is used, the premium is 10% of the bond, rounded up to the nearest $5 and paid in full before release, plus small nonrefundable state fees (Ark. Code §17-19-301). Call the jail to ask which payment methods it accepts for cash bonds. If you believe there is a warrant, contact the sheriff’s office or a lawyer before turning yourself in.
Inmate commissary accounts are handled by Tiger Commissary, where family members can deposit money or order items online. Call (870) 246-2222 to confirm current visiting days and times, how phone and video calls work and the right way to address mail. Write the person’s full name on every letter.
There is no public bus to the jail; plan to drive. Fuel is close by at Exxon, 203 N. 10th Street, and Phillips 66, 104 N. 10th Street. Sonic Drive-In is at 303 N. 10th Street, and Burger King is at 2820 Pine Street.
After an arrest, individuals are taken to Clark County Jail for the booking process, where their identity is confirmed, charges are reviewed, and decisions are made about whether they will be released on bail or detained.

There are three choices for putting money on an inmate's books:
Choice 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Ask the jail whether it takes deposits in person before you go.
Call Clark County Jail to ask whether it has a Tiger kiosk for cash or card deposits, and where it is.

If you can't get your questions answered online call the Clark County Jail at 870-246-2222.
Choice 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Tiger Commissary's online site lists the services set up for each jail, such as commissary orders or deposits.
Go to Tiger's online site, pick the state and the jail, and see which services it offers there.
Choice 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.
Call Clark County Jail at 870-246-2222 to confirm the address to send the money order to and how they want it made out.
Failure to do this properly will delay your inmate getting his account credited and may require you to have to resubmit a second money order.
Call 870-246-2222 to ask facility personnel who to make the money order out to, and where to send it.
