Most people arrested in Orange County can be released before trial. The Florida Constitution guarantees reasonable pretrial release except for capital or life felonies where the proof is evident, or where no conditions would protect the community. Minor misdemeanor and traffic arrests are often resolved with a notice to appear. For other charges, the Florida Supreme Court publishes a uniform statewide bond schedule with a minimum bond for each offense.
Find out an inmate’s bail by calling the Orange County Main Facility Jail at 407-836-3400. Bond amounts start with the Florida uniform statewide bond schedule for 2026, but judicial circuits can require more, and a judge at first appearance, usually within 24 hours, can raise or lower the bond. Cash, surety bonds, and property bonds are accepted, and personal recognizance release is available in some cases.
The licensed capacity of the Orange County Main Facility Jail is 1053 inmates, though the jail frequently has to make room for more, especially on weekends. Most city and county jails in Florida see at least 35-40% of inmates turn over monthly, 25-30% more every 90 days, and 15-20% more every six months, while around 8-9% remain six to twelve months. Stays longer than twelve months are usually tied to serious charges such as rape or murder. Those cases take time to prepare for trial, which means offenders arrested in this county stay in custody at one of the Orange County facilities much longer.
Orange County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 84,640 offenders annually.
For a look at the facility, view our photos of the jail.
⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessOrange County, Florida, has a large complex that holds several detention facilities, each providing a specialized service. As the original jail, the Main Facility runs along the back of the complex against Lake Catherine and is bordered by Horizon, Whitcomb, and the Female Detention Center. It has the largest capacity with several wings, housing pods, and space for federal inmates as well, housing up to 1,053 inmates at any time.
Inmates who are sent to this facility will first be booked through the Booking and Release Center, which is also where they will be processed for release, and where they will remain until their first court date and further housing assignment.
Direct supervision is the main form of security at the facility and this has detention officers in the pods with the inmates throughout the day, rather than just cameras from a command center. This improves relationships and is proven to create a more supportive environment with fewer violent incidents and other difficulties, making the facility safer than other methods.
Upon assessment, each will be permitted to choose programs or educational opportunities that will fit their needs and help them to reach their own personal goals, learn new skills and strategies, improve decision making, and prepare them for the future as well as reduce recidivism for the community. Many programs are available from high school classes and basic adult education to construction courses from the local community college, parenting and money management classes, treating trauma and cognitive behavioral programs are in place for those who wish to access them.
Faith based programs and services are provided for those who choose to attend, providing continuation of their ongoing faith which for many will support improved mental health. Veteran’s programs are in place to support those with share experiences in a way that will work best for them, and allow them to support each other.
The Orange County Jail is run by the Orange County Corrections Department, a department of Orange County government rather than the Sheriff’s Office. It is a large campus in southwest Orlando off 33rd Street and South John Young Parkway, with its administration building at 3723 Vision Blvd., Orlando, FL 32839. The main information line is (407) 836-3400 (press 5 for Spanish). It is the fourth-largest jail system in Florida, averaging 3,064 people a day in 2025, and about 84% of them are awaiting trial. Men and women are housed in several buildings on the campus, including the Main Facility, a Female Detention Center and the Horizon unit. Some people are serving county sentences of a year or less. Anyone sentenced to more than a year goes to the Florida Department of Corrections.
Every arrest in the county ends up at the Booking and Release Center (BRC), 3855 South John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL 32839. Booking, first appearance and release all happen there. Florida Rule 3.130 requires a person in custody to see a judge within 24 hours, and in Orange County that hearing is held in the BRC courtrooms before Ninth Judicial Circuit judges. The jail posts a first appearance list, and you can look up anyone currently held, along with their bond, in the current inmate database. Everyone released from the jail system walks out through the BRC’s public lobby, no matter which building they were housed in.
Under Article I, Section 14 of the Florida Constitution, most people have a right to pretrial release on reasonable conditions. The exceptions are capital or life felonies with strong proof, and cases where no conditions could protect the community. Before first appearance, bonds follow the minimums in the Florida Supreme Court’s 2026 uniform bond schedule (AOSC25-69). The chief judge may set higher local amounts, some serious charges require a judge’s review, and the first appearance judge can set a different bond. Many minor misdemeanors end with a notice to appear. To post bond yourself, go to the public windows in the BRC lobby, which are open 24 hours. The jail accepts a money order, traveler’s check or certified/cashier’s check made out to “Clerk of the Courts.” It does not take cash or personal checks, and you’ll need ID. Western Union (city code ORLFLJAILCLERK) also works. If you use a licensed bail bond agent, Florida law (section 648.33) requires them to charge exactly the premium rate the state has approved. The jail warns that bond scams are active. Releases can take up to 12 hours.
All personal visits are by video. Remote visits from a computer or Android device (Apple devices are not supported) are booked through orangecountyfl.gtlvisitme.com and last up to 15 minutes. Check the site for current remote-visit fees. On-site video visits take place at the Video Visitation Center, 3000 39th Street, Orlando, FL 32839. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the last session starts at 9 p.m. Each person in custody may have three visits a week. Book at least a day ahead by calling (407) 836-8061. Your first appointment must be made by phone. Arrive 15 minutes early with a government photo ID. Up to three visitors can share a session, but no more than two may be adults. Visitors under 18 must be with a parent or legal guardian (or show a valid marriage license) and must be supervised the whole time. The dress code bans see-through clothing, halter or tube tops, short shorts and mini-skirts. Full visitation rules are posted here.
To look for someone who may have a warrant, try the FDLE statewide wanted persons search. It doesn’t list every active warrant, so no result doesn’t mean there isn’t one. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t offer a public warrant lookup of its own. Its wanted page points people to FDLE and Crimeline.
Personal mail is opened and scanned, and people read it on kiosks or tablets. Address it to: Smart Communications/Orange County Corrections Department, the person’s full name and booking number, P.O. Box 9101, Seminole, FL 33775-9174. Money orders go to a separate address: Orange County Corrections, Inmate Fiscal Department, P.O. Box 4970, Orlando, FL 32802-4970, with the person’s name and booking number. ConnectNetwork takes deposits online or at (888) 428-1845 (site ID 196), and the BRC lobby takes cash or cards daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Phone calls go through GTL/ViaPath. Set up an account at OffenderConnect, or call (888) 949-3303. Mail and money and property rules are on the department’s site.
LYNX Link 36 (Lake Richmond) runs from LYNX Central Station and has a timepoint at 33rd St. & Vision Blvd., right beside the jail campus. Link 57 runs along John Young Parkway past the BRC. For fuel, there’s a Chevron at 3600 S. John Young Pkwy. (it keeps limited hours) and a 24-hour Wawa at 3501 Millenia Blvd., which also serves food. For a meal, try the McDonald’s at 5107 S. John Young Pkwy. or Culver’s at 4591 Power Center Ln.

Understanding the booking process at Orange County Main Facility Jail
After an arrest, individuals are taken to Orange County Main Facility Jail where they go through booking. This process includes identifying the person, reviewing charges, and determining whether they will be released on their own, eligible for bail, or detained until their court date.
It’s crucial to remain silent after being arrested. Anything said may be used in court, so it’s better to refrain from speaking until consulting with an attorney.
The following steps outline the booking procedure at Orange County Main Facility Jail:
- Personal identification verification.
- Taking photographs (mugshots).
- Medical and mental health assessment, as well as inquiries about substance use.
- Possibly collecting DNA samples.
- Performing a full-body search.
- Seizing personal belongings for safekeeping.
- Allowing one phone call.
Booking can take from a short hour to longer periods, especially on busy nights or with uncooperative individuals. For inquiries about posting bond for an arrestee, call the facility at 407-836-3400.
Paying bail for someone in custody in Orange County
Once someone is booked at Orange County Main Facility Jail in Orlando after an arrest, there are several outcomes:
1. They may be released without paying bail, agreeing to show up on a scheduled date.
2. They may remain in custody until their court appearance.
3. They can pay a bail or bond for release. Call 407-836-3400 for bail details.
Bail payments can take several forms.
- The full cash bond is paid at the jail's bonding window or at the clerk of court using cash, a cashier's check or a money order, while many jails add a card option at a lobby kiosk or through an online bond service for a fee; bring the inmate's full name and booking number, and call the jail at 407-836-3400 with questions.
- A licensed bail bond agent in Orange County can help cover bail.
- Many courts take real estate as security for a bond; the property owner must show clear title plus equity at least equal to the bond, often twice it, backed by a deed and a recent tax or appraisal value, and the court that set the bail gives final approval.
