Sending Letters to the Comal County Jail

Personal letters do not go to New Braunfels. The Sheriff's mail rules direct personal mail to this P.O. box in Arkansas:

Comal County Jail, TX
Inmate's First and Last Name; SO Number
P.O. Box 16120
Jonesboro, AR 72401

Packages and legal mail go to the jail itself:

Comal County Jail
Inmate's First and Last Name; SO Number
3000 IH 35 South
New Braunfels, TX 78130

Your return address must include your first and last name and a complete street or box address. Mail from an unidentified sender is returned. Our Comal County inmate search shows each person's SO Number.

Photos and cards

  • Photos: 4 x 6 inches or smaller, border included; one image per print; no Polaroids, collages, emojis or added text; no nudity, lingerie or suggestive poses. Children in photos must be fully clothed, with no swimsuit, bath or diaper shots.
  • Cards: single-layer only, 8 x 11 inches at most, with no music, pop-ups, glitter, ribbon, adhesive, metal or moving parts.

Books and magazines

Publications must ship directly from a publisher or an established bookstore, with the SPN number on the shipping label. Only perfect-bound paperbacks are allowed. Amazon orders are fine only when Amazon itself is the seller and USPS, UPS or FedEx delivers them. Same-day Amazon courier drops are rejected. The jail takes deliveries Monday through Friday between 8 AM and 5 PM, except on county holidays. Books from family, friends or third-party sellers are returned.

What the mailroom refuses

Blank paper, stamps and envelopes; anything with glitter, perfume, lipstick or white-out; stickers, labels, staples and paper clips; laminated or hard-plastic items; cloth, jewelry and rosaries; hygiene items; tattoo designs; gang-related writing or drawings; posters over 11 x 14 inches. Staff unfold every letter before delivery. Repeat violations can put a sender on an inmate's Negative Mailing List.

For mailroom questions, phone 830-620-3450.

The inmate's first and last name with the SO Number, plus your own full name and complete return address.
