Most defendants in Orange County have a constitutional right to be released before trial on reasonable conditions. Florida makes exceptions for capital and life felonies where the proof is evident, and for cases where no conditions would protect the community. People arrested on minor misdemeanors or traffic offenses are often released on a notice to appear. For other charges, a uniform statewide bond schedule from the Florida Supreme Court sets the minimum bond.

Find out an inmate’s bail by calling the Orange Regional Juvenile Detention Center at 407-897-2800. Bond amounts start with the Florida uniform statewide bond schedule for 2026, but judicial circuits can require more, and a judge at first appearance, usually within 24 hours, can raise or lower the bond. Cash, surety bonds, and property bonds are accepted, and personal recognizance release is available in some cases.

Even though the Orange Regional Juvenile Detention Center is licensed for 127 inmates, it is often forced to accommodate many more, especially on weekends. In most city and county jails in Florida, at least 35-40% of the population turns over each month, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months. About 8-9% stay incarcerated between six and twelve months. Offenders who stay longer than a year are usually facing serious charges like rape or murder, and because those cases take longer to prepare for trial, anyone arrested in this county on such charges remains in one of the Orange County facilities much longer.

Approximately 84,640 offenders are arrested and detained every year by Orange County law enforcement agencies.
