Looking for someone in custody? The inmate search tool shows everyone currently held at the 750-bed Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center, and staff can answer questions around the clock at 860-848-5700.
Anyone arrested in the county on misdemeanor or felony charges comes through this facility for booking and processing. Depending on the charges, they may be held until they are bonded out, released on their own recognizance, or kept in custody until their trial is over.
People sentenced to under a year serve that time at this jail. Longer sentences are served in the Connecticut State Prison System or the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
This page covers the visitation schedule, adding funds to an inmate’s account, mail rules, phone calls from inmates, voicemail, email and texting, tablet rentals, how to post bail, and commissary orders.
Keep the inmate’s jail ID or booking number handy, because most mail and messaging services require it. If you can’t find it online, call Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center at 860-848-5700.

Want to look up an inmate at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center? The Official Jail Inmate Roster shows their criminal charges, bond amount, visitation eligibility, and in many cases their mugshot. You can also call the jail at 860-848-5700 for the information you need.
Connecticut’s Judicial Branch posts an online list of certain arrest warrants: those issued for a violation of probation, a failure to appear in court on existing charges, or an order to incarcerate. It isn’t a list of every warrant in the state. Warrants from police investigations generally aren’t posted, so if a name doesn’t appear, that doesn’t mean there’s no warrant.
To find information on a specific court case, use the Judicial Branch’s online case look-up, which covers most cases in the Supreme Court, the Appellate Court, and the Superior Court, including criminal cases across Connecticut. Some records, such as juvenile, youthful offender, and sealed cases, are not available to the public.

In Connecticut, the first decision about bail is made at the police station after an arrest. Police can release the person on a written promise to appear, or set a bond. If the person isn’t released, an intake, assessment and referral specialist (formerly called a bail commissioner) with the Judicial Branch’s Court Support Services Division can review the case and change the bond. The judge makes the final decision when the defendant appears in court. If the judge orders bail, it can be posted as a cash bond for the full amount, or as a surety bond through a licensed bondsman, whose fee is set by state regulation at 10% of the first $5,000 and 7% of the rest.

The Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center is licensed to hold 750 inmates at a time, but it often has to make room for more, especially on weekends. Connecticut has no county jails. The state Department of Correction runs every facility, and several of them serve as the state’s jails for people awaiting trial while also holding sentenced inmates: Bridgeport, Hartford, and New Haven Correctional Centers, Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center, and York Correctional Institution, which holds every woman in state custody. Cheshire, Garner, and MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institutions also hold some pretrial detainees. Brooklyn Correctional Institution and the Cybulski Community Reintegration Center hold only sentenced men, and Osborn and Robinson Correctional Institutions house sentenced men almost exclusively. At the facilities that hold pretrial detainees, at least 35-40% of the inmate population turns over each month, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months, while about 8-9% stay between six and twelve months. Inmates held longer than a year are usually facing serious charges such as rape or murder, and because those cases take so long to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in New London County on such charges remain in state custody much longer.
⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessCorrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center is a Level 3/4 jail at 986 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Uncasville, CT 06382, in the town of Montville. The main phone number is (860) 848-5700. It was formed in 2001 by merging the Radgowski Correctional Institution (opened 1991) and the Corrigan Correctional Institution (opened 1994). Since October 2021, only the Corrigan building has been in use. In September 2026, it held about 670 men.
Corrigan-Radgowski serves the superior courts in four jurisdictions in southeastern Connecticut, so it holds a mix of pretrial detainees (about 290) and sentenced men (about 360). It also has a close-monitoring unit for members of security risk groups, which is the state’s term for gangs. Among its pretrial detainees, the most common charges include criminal violation of a protective order, violation of probation, risk of injury to a minor, failure to appear, and first-degree robbery.
For general-population inmates, in-person visits don’t need to be scheduled. Visiting days are based on whether the last digit of the inmate’s number is odd or even, and each visit lasts one hour. Video visits last 45 minutes, are limited to two per week, and must be booked at least 72 hours ahead through the DOC’s visiting request site. Call the facility to find out which days apply to your loved one’s number.
Visitors must be on the inmate’s approved visiting list; the inmate requests an application from their counselor, and approval generally takes two to three weeks. Adults need photo ID at every visit. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an approved adult carrying the child’s birth certificate and a second document with the child’s name. Former offenders and people with pending cases or warrants are generally not approved without the warden’s permission. Dress modestly and lock personal items away before entering.
The facility sits on Route 32 (the Norwich-New London Turnpike), which is served by Southeast Area Transit (SEAT) Route 1 between Norwich and New London; check SEAT’s schedule for the stop nearest the facility. Mail should include the inmate’s full name and inmate number, the facility address, and your return address. Money can be sent through JPay, TouchPay, Western Union, or by money order to the Inmate Trust Fund, P.O. Box 290800, Wethersfield, CT 06129-0800. Phone calls are free.
Once arrested, the person is taken to Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center for booking, a process that confirms identity, assesses charges, and determines if they will be released on their own recognizance, posted for bail, or held until court.
Staying silent is key during this process, as anything spoken can be used as evidence in court. It’s best to wait for legal counsel before responding to questions.
Steps involved in booking at Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center include:
