Every jail and prison operates its inmate phone call system differently.

Some allow collect calls only
Some only allow the cost to be deducted from their inmate accounts
Most only allow a 15-20 minute call per occurrence.
Some allow a maximum number of minutes (e.g. 200 minutes) per month.
Phone calls are only allowed to be made during certain times of the day or night.
