I know the person was in jail, but my search comes back as “no record found.” What happened?

If your inmate search gives you the result that there is ‘no record found’, in most circumstances you have not entered their legal name in with the proper spelling. It may be that you entered it incorrectly or they did at the time of booking or conviction.

Try different variations of their name. Try to see if the inmate search allows you to search by last name only, date of arrest or bring up the entire list of inmates, then scroll through those.

Final option… call the jail. The top center of each jail or prison page has the phone number you can call for more information.
