We all respect the power of money. Pledging your own money for something makes a powerful statement. Courts understand this and require that you have some ‘skin in the game’ before they will agree to release you.
Your ‘skin in the game’ is your cash or valuables or the money that someone else agrees to pledge for you. It seems to benefit those with wealth over the poor… but that is the way it is and will always be, so deal with it.
